The North America Sukuta Association (NASUA) is marking a significant milestone as it prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary with its Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for July 31 to August 2, 2026, in New York.
Over the past decade, the Atlanta-based organization has grown into a vital support network for the Sukuta community, delivering consistent charitable assistance on both sides of the Atlantic. In the United States, NASUA has provided critical welfare services, including rental assistance for distressed members, funding for emergency surgeries, legal support, and coverage of funeral expenses.
The Association has also introduced an innovative hardship loan program, offering interest-free loans of up to $1,000 to help members navigate unexpected financial challenges.
In The Gambia, NASUA has established a constitutionally guaranteed Development Fund that dedicates 30 percent of annual subscription income to community projects. This has resulted in tangible improvements, including the renovation of homes for impoverished families, upgrades to the Sukuta Health Center, COVID-19 food bank initiatives, disaster relief for floods and fires, and continued support for the Sukuta Central Mosque and Sukuta Multipurpose Center.
“This 10th anniversary represents not just a celebration of time passed, but a recognition of the lives touched and the lasting impact created through collective effort,” the organization stated in its announcement.
The upcoming anniversary events in New York will feature commemorative activities, award recognitions, visual presentations highlighting key achievements, cultural appreciation programs, and fundraising initiatives aimed at expanding NASUA’s charitable work. Additional commemorative events are also planned in Sukuta, The Gambia.
All members, supporters, and the wider community are invited to participate in what promises to be a memorable celebration of service, unity, and development.
