The newly elected set of leaders of the Social Sciences and Humanities Students’ Association, were today sworn-in at the Brikama campus to officially begin steering the affairs of the students for the next two semesters.
The Ismaila Jobarteh led-council pledged to serve the students of SoSHSA without fear or favour, hatred or hindrance and to uphold the Constitution of the association.
The traditional swearing-in ceremony was led by the Chairman of the SoSHSA Electoral Commission, Mr Sidia Fabureh who guided the elected leaders together with their appointed deputies in taking the oath to serve the students of the most vibrant Sub-Association in The University of The Gambia.
Earlier before the swearing-in of the new batch of leaders,the president of the 16th Executive Council of SoSHSA, Andrew Mendy, acquainted the 17th Executive Council on the challenges encountered by his council and extended sincere recommendations to President Ismaila Jobarteh and his cluster of servants who are ready to serve the students to the utmost.
It could be recalled that the 17th Executive Council members of SoSHSA were duly elected by the students of SoSHSA in a historical election conducted on the 16th of December 2021 and announced by the Chairman of the SoSHSA Electoral Commission in the early hours of the 17th December 2021, showcasing the voices of the electorates. Since then, there has been an internal handing-over between the 16th and the 17th Executive Councils.
This new set of council members are energised to propel the agendas of SoSHSA to the zenith. The team is a composition of selfless, determined and committed students of Mama SoSHSA.
While we thank the electorates for trusting us with these positions, we would want to reiterate to you all that we are committed to pursuing the interest of the students in sunshine and shadow.
