Alport Banjul Limited has uncovered a significant security breach at the Port of Banjul, prompting an urgent internal investigation and full cooperation with law enforcement authorities.
According to an official statement released on April 14, 2026, the company detected the fraudulent release of three shipping containers along with the unauthorized removal of 12 vehicles and one motorcycle from its premises. The incident took place on March 23, 2026, and was first noticed by the company’s Tariff and Operations Departments.
Alport Security immediately launched an internal probe into the matter. Upon completion, the company compiled a detailed report, supported by exhibits and other evidentiary materials, and formally submitted it to the Seaport Police Unit. The police have now taken over the criminal investigation.
The State Intelligence Services is also actively involved in the case. Alport Banjul confirmed it is cooperating “fully and without reservation” with all relevant authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent process.
As a precautionary measure, the company has suspended several staff members identified as suspects during the internal investigation. The suspensions took immediate effect and will remain in place until the police conclude their probe. In an internal notice to staff, Alport Banjul directed all employees to fully cooperate with investigators and avoid any actions that could undermine the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
The company warned that it will pursue “all necessary disciplinary and legal action” against anyone found culpable. It emphasized that future security breaches will be met with zero tolerance, reflecting its strong commitment to protecting operational integrity at the port.
Alport Banjul described the referral of the case to both the Seaport Police and the State Intelligence Services as a clear indication of the seriousness with which it views the incident. The company has pledged to seek full accountability through all lawful means.
