The FKF Leadership Academy Program (LAP) 2.0 kicked off with a vibrant orientation ceremony, marking the start of a transformative journey for aspiring African leaders. The event was held with enthusiasm and purpose, and united youth, women, and representatives of disadvantaged groups eager to embrace ethical and impactful leadership. The academy aims to address leadership and governance deficits in least developed countries, particularly The Gambia, by cultivating dynamic leaders and entrepreneurs equipped to drive economic development and advance sustainable development goals.

The ceremony highlighted the program’s mission to identify and nurture individuals with leadership potential through training, mentorship, and opportunities. LAP 2.0 focuses on building critical soft skills, including communication, teamwork, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and decision-making, to prepare participants for effective leadership in any setting.

In a compelling keynote address, the academy’s founder, Prof. Momodou Mustapha Fanneh, underscored the urgent need to bridge the leadership vacuum in public and private institutions. He noted that many leaders lack clarity on their organizations’ visions, missions, and objectives, hindering progress. Prof. Fanneh emphasized that 21st-century leadership demands innovation, integrity, teamwork, time management, and adaptability to tackle challenges like climate change, corruption, unethical behavior, talent retention, low productivity, and poor decision-making. He urged participants to become ethical, selfless, and visionary leaders capable of fostering inclusive development.

The FKF Leadership Academy’s vision is to shape 21st-century leaders and entrepreneurs, with a mission to develop highly motivated, self-directed youth and women. The learner-centered curriculum, introduced during the orientation, is designed to sharpen skills in ethical leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. Participants left the event inspired, with a renewed sense of hope, passion, and commitment to driving change.

The academy positions itself as a beacon of transformation, empowering a generation of leaders who prioritize purpose, integrity, and service over power. By addressing the complexities of modern leadership, the FKF Leadership Academy is paving the way for a brighter, more inclusive future for The Gambia and beyond.

The orientation concluded with participants ready to embark on their leadership journey, equipped to confront challenges and champion sustainable development. The FKF Leadership Academy Program 2.0 is poised to create a lasting social and economic impact, fostering leaders who will shape a better tomorrow.
