Basse Born Forward Susso Bamba says he is thrilled to see the season going as expected as NK Aluminij secured promotion back to the Slovenian highest division. On loan from Pisa, Susso found his scoring mojo as he banged in 15 goals in 21 league appearances as he finished 2nd in the goal king chart and among the top five Gambian foreign-based players with high scoring this season.

In the exclusive with Alkamba Times, Susso narrated that he has achieved his objective and his future is with the newly promoted Serie A side.

“I had some difficulties in the beginning of the season. I came from an injury, had an operation, and was recovering. I missed some games, and in the early stages of the season, I wasn’t in form either. When I picked form, I was unstoppable. One of the factors that helped me is I have known my teammates, making the adoption much easier. It’s a great season. I am happy. I developed a lot as a footballer, and mentally I am strong.” He indicated

“I am happy to be able to help this club which I am grateful. Hard work always pays off. I went through a lot this year. I am the only one who can choose to change the narratives by putting in strength and determination. We all deserved this as a team. I am thrilled that we are promoted to the first league. I don’t know about my future. The coming months will determine. NK Aluminij wants me to stay; I have to listen to what Pisa wants too.”

“I am happy to be among Gambian top scorers this season. It was my objective, to be honest. My family told me that if I score 10 goals, they will be happy. I told them 10 goals is small for me. I told them I could bang in 15 goals, which they were doubtful of. It was competitive between me and them. I am happy to have this in the bag, and I am looking for another objective.”

On his personal connection with the supporters, Susso mentioned that they are very cordial as they even took his jerseys.

“I have a good relationship with the fans. I promise them that NK Aluminij will be a better and more deserved place. In the title celebrations, they took my jerseys for souvenirs.”

“Last season was bad, but this season is good. My family, partner, and agent have been there for me and stood by me; that helped a lot. My parents were fundamental for me; they helped me mentally. I focus a lot on myself. There was no choice; I had to just work hard to enjoy the football. The sacrifice paid dividends.” Susso added.
