Yankuba Minteh scored his third goal for Odense Bk on Monday. Minteh led and inspired the host to come from two goals down to level the scores at Nature Energy Park.
The 18 year- old Right/left-wing player has been involved in 3 goals which are two assists and 1 goal in the last three league games.
His performance against Silkeborg and Lygnby at home has warmed the home fans’ hearts and saw him being named Man of the Match in succession and equally making the 3F Superliga team of the week for a record fourth time.
Previously linked to Udinese, Newcastle competes to bring Yankuba Minteh to St James Park with a fee of around €5.35 million as his stock continues to rise.
After the match, the Bakoteh born spoke to reporters and opened up on his long-term dream of playing in the English Premier League.
“My agent can answer the rumors linking me to Newcastle. These kinds of rumors motivate me a lot to perform well. That’s my goal to play in the Premier League. I am ready to take the next step; if I do, it will be good for me. If I can come in the summer, I will take it. Newcastle is a big team in the Premier League, and they are doing good, fighting for the champions league spot. I want to be there,’ the youngster Minteh told TAT Sports.
U20 Worldcup dilemma
Yankuba, who has one cap with the senior national team, missed the CAF U20 earlier this year despite rumors circulating that he will be in Argentina for the World Cup.
The development might take a new twist. However, it’s understood that the player’s camp is in advanced talks with the club to see him play for the Gambia U20. Yankuba Minteh is Odense’s most offensive player, and the team has five more games to play. The Danish Superliga will wrap up on May 26th, while the U20 Worldcup will start on May 20th.
