Barely 63 days to the much anticipated December 4 Presidential Elections, one of the longest serving commissioners of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the body charged with conducting elections in The Gambia has tendered her resignations, The Alkamba Times can authoritatively report.
Reasons behind the resignation of Madam Isatou Jallow Ndure, the only serving female commissioner of the electoral body are still not clear but sources at the electoral house said she’s going for early retirement after serving the commission in various capacities for many years.
She supported the IEC chairman in conducting the 2011 and 2016 elections and served as an instrumental pillar since her appointment in 2008 at the IEC.
During her time at the electoral commission, she had electoral responsibility over the Banjul Administrative Area and also conducted the oversight task of communications and voter education.
Her CV found online by Alkamba Times described her as a double masters holder from Teacher’s College Columbia University in New York City, USA.
A trained Teacher and Educationist with 16 years experience, Madam Jallow previously headed the Curriculum and development division at the Ministry of Education in Banjul.
