Kaddy Gassama, a Gambian immigrant and independent Muslim software developer based in the United States, released Hadi AI. This free-to-start mobile app helps dialysis patients organize daily life details between clinic visits. Now available on the Apple App Store, the app lets users log fluids, medications, symptoms, weight, urine output, meals, and appointments so they can arrive at appointments better prepared. It was built from personal experience after a close friend began dialysis treatment.
For Kaddy Gassama, Hadi AI is more than an app. It is a personal project born from friendship and a desire to ease the daily burdens of dialysis for anyone facing the treatment.
Sometimes the idea for something meaningful begins with someone we care about. For Gassama, a Gambian immigrant and independent Muslim software developer living in the United States, that moment came while watching a dear friend navigate dialysis. The experience highlighted the practical challenges patients and families manage between clinic visits—tracking fluids, symptoms, medications, weight, meals, and appointments—and sparked the idea that technology could help organize those details in one simple place.
With a background in cybersecurity, Gassama applied her technical skills to build Hadi AI, now available on the Apple App Store. The free-to-start app is designed for dialysis patients everywhere, regardless of nationality or community. Users can log fluids, symptoms, weight, urine output, and meals; maintain a medication list with reminders and dose tracking; schedule dialysis sessions and clinic visits; and save care-team contacts on their device. Guest mode lets people begin logging without creating an account, and daily logging remains free worldwide.
An optional Hadi Plus subscription unlocks longer history, trends, clinic-visit preparation tools, an AI-generated visit brief drawn from the user’s own logs, a one-page PDF summary for the care team, and family caregiver snapshots. Gassama stresses that Hadi AI is an educational wellness companion, not a healthcare provider or medical device, and is not a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Users are encouraged to follow the guidance of their nephrologist and dialysis care team.
She has described the project in personal terms. “Inspired by a dear friend going through dialysis, I created Hadi AI to help make the day-to-day journey a little easier,” she wrote. Features support fluid tracking, dialysis schedule management, daily symptom logging, family and caregiver snapshots, and AI assistance to help patients prepare for visits and organize questions. “Because behind every treatment is a person, a story, a family, and a life beyond the clinic. This one is personal. This one is for my friend.”
Dialysis reshapes more than a medical routine; it affects family life, daily plans, and the people who provide support. Gassama hopes the app can make that journey feel a little less overwhelming by bringing practical tools together so patients stay organized and caregivers can stay involved. What began with one friend has grown into a broader effort to support dialysis patients, families, and caregivers in everyday life.
The release continues Gassama’s independent health-tech work focused on specific needs. Earlier this year, she launched Sakinly, a mental-wellness app tailored for Muslim users that combines mood tracking with Islamic spiritual resources, including relevant Qur’anic verses, Du‘ā, and Hadith, encouraging responses rooted in concepts such as Shukr (gratitude) and Sabr (patience). Like Hadi AI, it was developed by a solo creator and is available on the Apple App Store.
Together, the apps show how independent developers can create purpose-built tools outside large institutional products. Hadi AI prioritizes clear screens, offline-friendly logging, and optional insights generated only from data the user chooses to enter. Privacy policy and terms links appear in the app listing; any subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends through Apple Account settings.
Gassama’s successive releases reflect growing interest in digital tools for chronic-condition management and faith-informed support. Hadi AI’s core logging features remain free worldwide, underscoring that anyone managing dialysis can use the app, regardless of background.
