More than 300 families in Gambian border villages have been displaced, following the latest fighting between MFDC separatists and the Senegalese military.
Information gathered by The Alkamba Times revealed that they are being supported by members of Gambia armed forces quick reaction force deployed in the area and the Red Cross.
The communities affected include Ballen, Gilanfari, Karunorr, Gikess, Kappa Gilanfar, Sitanunku.
“We are currently at Kampant to assess the humanitarian situation, as hundreds of Gambians vacate their homes for the safer settlements of Kampant and Bajagarr.
“From my position in Kampant, I can still hear the sound of gunshots within range,” a resident, Saidou Badjie Bajagarr posted on his social media feed.
