The Brikama-based football academy, Greater Tomorrow, is through to the top tier of Gambian football following their 2-1 win over Immigration earlier this week to seal their promotion for the first time in club history, with a game to spare.

“This is an excellent achievement for us as a club, it’s our first attempt in the second division in the Gambia, and here we are heading to the top tier next season despite losing a couple of our players to Brikama United and Real De Banjul. ” Mr. Wuyeh Touray, a member of the management committee of Greater tomorrow, told the Alkamba Times sports.

He added: ” We have come a long way to establish this great club within the community, and here we are into the first division league. The atmosphere was remarkable throughout the season as the management, players, and the fans worked hard to achieve our desired goal as we produce players for both local and international levels, including Gambian international James Gomez, who plays as a defender for the Danish 1st Division club AC Horsens in Denmark. He has passed through this academy and still serving us as a great ambassador at the top level of football.”

Greater tomorrow became the only second team from West Coast Region to gain a direct promotion to the top tier of Gambian football in their first season in the second division.
