Buah Saidy, the Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG), says the Bank has no links to the alleged D11.1 million bribery claim recently reported in the media and that the matter has been laid to rest after the police were done with their investigations.

He made this response to a reporter of The Alkamba Times (TAT), which first reported the alleged bribery involving CBG staff last February.

The TAT reporter attended the Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) press conference in Banjul on Thursday, 1st September 2022.

“As far as we are concerned, there is no saga at the Central Bank of The Gambia; there is no D155 million problem at the Central Bank of The Gambia. Therefore, this matter has been laid to rest. Investigations have been concluded by the police, and the information has been circulated,” CBG Governor declared.

“I would appreciate it if this question is not being asked in Central Bank anymore. If you want to follow this issue, please go to the police station”, Governor Saidy said in response to the TAT reporter who attended the press conference after the CBG Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting on Thursday, 1st September 2022 in Banjul.
