Man Shot in Upper Saloum Village Dispute; Suspect Gunman Flees

A shooting incident occurred on the morning of 10 August 2026 in Makka village, Upper Saloum, leaving one man injured and the alleged perpetrator on the run.

At approximately 09:00 hours, Mod Ceesay, a native of Panchang, received a telephone message at the Panchang PIU Base from the Alkalo of Makka village reporting the incident. Shortly afterward, at 09:15 hours, a team of officers responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, police established that a dispute had erupted between the victim, Babou Fass, and the accused, Drammeh Jawara. Jawara remains at large. Officers conducted a house-to-house search of the area but recovered neither the suspect nor the weapon used – a local hunting gun.

The injured man was rushed by ambulance from Panchang village to Njau Health Center, where he is currently receiving treatment.

Police continue efforts to locate and apprehend the suspect. Further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.

Authorities urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of Drammeh Jawara or the missing hunting gun to contact the nearest police station.
