KMRFA wraps-up ‘D’ License coaching course

The Kanifing Municipality Regional Football Association (KMRFA) has successfully completed a week long D License coaching course for coaches within the Municipality.

Thirty-six coaches from the municipality took part in the training which lasted for seven days. The training which concluded on Monday  September 18 at the Serrekunda East was meant to equip coaches within the region.

Lead course instructor, Lamin Sambou hailed participants for their commitment during the course, saying he believes with the right education the future is bright for coaching in the country.
Mr Sambou who was speaking to the reporter’s after the end of the course said: “education is crucial in coaching because coaches are like teachers and you cannot teach if you do not have the right knowledge”.

He urged other regional football associations to organize similar trainings for their coaches before the commencement of league competitions.

The range of instructors in the training include Pa Suwareh Faye and Alhagie Ebrima Nyassi alongside Lamin Sambou and Ebrima Kalilou Dumbuya who served as course directors. Mustapha Jallow, second vice president and head of competition KMRFA advised participants to make good use of the knowledge gained to better themselves as well as transfer it to their players ahead of the new season.

“I will be expecting a good and competitive league season this year”, he added.

At the end of the training program participants were certified.

Mr. Marenah is known for covering some of the most critical stories during the former and current administrations, including high-profile treason cases involving former military chiefs from 2009 to 2012. After his arrest and imprisonment by the previous regime of President Yahya Jammeh in 2014, he relocated to Dakar, Senegal, where he continues to work as a freelance journalist for various local and international media organizations, including the BBC, Al Jazeera, VOA, and ZDF TV in Germany. He is also a co-founder of the Banjul-based Media Center for Research and Development, an institution dedicated to research and development initiatives. As a journalist and communication expert dedicated to supporting the Gambia's transitional process, Mr. Sainey M.K. Marenah plays a significant role in developing a media and communications platform aimed at enhancing civic participation and raising awareness of the requirements for transitional governance. His efforts contribute to the country's ongoing movement toward democratization. In addition to his work in Gambia, Mr. Marenah has traveled extensively across Europe, Africa, and the United States as a professional journalist and has participated in various local and international media training programs. He is currently based in the United States.
