The Association of Licensed Forex Bureaux (ALFOB) has expressed profound sorrow over the fatal shooting of Isatou Fatty, an employee of Heewal Forex Bureau, in what the organization described as a “senseless act of violence.”
Fatty, a dedicated member of the forex trading community, was killed in an attack that has left colleagues, family, and friends devastated. ALFOB extended its deepest condolences to her loved ones, stating that the association’s thoughts and prayers are with them during this “extremely distressful period.”
The incident follows a similar robbery and attack at H M Forex Bureau in the Westfield area some months ago, raising serious concerns about the safety of forex bureau operators across the country. ALFOB warned that repeated violent incidents targeting the financial services sector highlight the urgent need for stronger security measures and collective action to protect workers.
In a strongly worded statement, ALFOB condemned the killing in the “strongest possible terms,” asserting that there is “no justification” for attacks on individuals lawfully carrying out their duties.
The association pledged to collaborate with law enforcement, government agencies, and other stakeholders to review and enhance security protocols for forex bureaus nationwide. Measures under consideration include improved surveillance, better coordination with police, and the introduction of standardized safety guidelines for operators.
ALFOB called on the public to remain calm, stay vigilant, and support ongoing police investigations. “Violence has no place in our society,” the statement read. “Together we must stand united against it.”
No arrests have been reported in connection with the killing as investigations continue. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward.
