The Paramilitary have arrested a good number of youths violently attacking people particularly those wearing NPP party T-shirts across the metropolis.

Crowds of UDP supporters where asked to disperse from city centres around the metropolis with the Police intervention unit clearing major roads and premises to allow people to go on their normal business.

After facing some resistance, PIU riot control officers released tear gas that affected many including three Gambia Talent TV journalists who were quickly rushed to the Ndemban Clinic.

Mohammed Bah, President of the Gambia Press Union told Alkamba Times, the three journalists are currently receiving medical attention.

Meanwhile, police are still on the streets chasing angry opposition UDP supporters in major centres across the metropolis.

The development has captured the attention of many concerned citizens including human rights defender Madi Jobarteh who said “All other political leaders, religious and traditional as well as business and CSO leaders and all men and women of conscience should speak up and tell Ousainou Darboe and UDP to stand down. Go to court and not on the streets!”.
