The Spokesperson of The Gambia Police Force, Cadet ASP Binta Njie, has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection to the robbery involving a tourist couple in Kololi.
“It was reported at Kotu police station. I received a flash report on the 26th that three persons of interest (suspects) were arrested,” says PRO Njie, who told TAT Police are further investigating the vicious assault of the couple during the robbery.
The tourist couple from the Netherlands were reportedly attacked by armed robbers in an apartment building in Kololi during the early hours of Saturday morning, with their assailants taking away cash amounting to over D500,000 (€8000) and D40,000 as well as leaving the two severely injured in the home invasion.
The couple is said to be regular visitors to The Gambia, who operate a charitable foundation in the country which supports schools and underprivileged communities.
