Team Gambia coordinators, Hon. Sidia Jatta and Hon. Halifa Sallah, on Saturday presented a report concluding a five-month national consultative process at a closed-door meeting at Paradise Suites Hotel.
The document compiles views from a wide cross-section of Gambian society. Participants included representatives of political parties, academics and other professionals, civil society organizations, trade unions, business leaders, professional bodies, social movements, religious leaders, and persons living with disabilities.
Among those present were Essa Mbye Faal, leader of APP-Sobeya; Dr Lamin J. Darboe, leader of the National Unity Party; and Assan Martin.
Copies of the report were distributed, with participants asked to study the findings and return an attached feedback form by Friday, 12 September 2026.
Team Gambia said the formal process of building a national coalition will begin on that date at the next meeting. The coordinators described the consultation as an effort to foster national unity and develop a shared agenda ahead of the 2026 elections.
The closed-door session marked the end of the outreach phase and the start of a more structured political conversation. Organizers have framed the exercise as a bid to move beyond fragmented party politics toward a broader platform capable of contesting the coming polls.
Stakeholders now have two weeks to submit written comments before coalition-building talks open. The outcome of that next meeting will indicate whether the wide range of voices gathered over five months can be translated into a workable alliance.
The report itself has not been made public. Team Gambia has so far limited circulation to those who took part in the consultations.
