The Gambia Armed Forces have said the crash that killed four of its serving members will be investigated to ascertain the cause of the accident.

‘The Military Police, in collaboration with the Gambia Police Forces, are investigating the circumstances leading to the cause of the accident. The general public would be duly informed of any developments as the situation unfolds,’ Gaf said in a late Thursday evening media statement.

Late Thursday, four soldiers of Presidential Guards stationed at State House in Banjul died in a severe automobile accident while escorting President Barrow’s reserve cars to his native Makamang Kunda in URR.

According to Security sources, the crash happened in Foni Ndemban, a spot notorious for accidents.

Those involved include Ansuman Danso, Saikou Touray, Kebba Sanneh, and Ousman Jobe, serving members of The Gambia Armed Forces.

” The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) High Command regrets to inform the general public of a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) involving its personnel serving in the State Guards Battalion. The accident, which involved five soldiers traveling as part of the rear party of the Presidential Convoy, occurred today, Thursday 11 August 2022, around Ndemban Village.”

Meanwhile, The Office of the President also condolences the deceased soldier’s families.

“President Barrow profoundly regrets this unfortunate accident and prays Allah Subhana wa ta’allah to grant them the highest of Jannah. The President extends his deepest sorrow to their families and wishes Ndedeh Bahoum a speedy recovery.”
