Gambian U20 midfielder Momodou Jatta is among young Gambian talents making waves across the world in football. Currently playing in Bosnia, Jatta adds himself to the list of Gambian foreign-based players pulling the strings outside their home country. Having arrived late in Bosnia, he managed to show why he was signed and is already looking forward to the 2025/26 season.

“I missed the preseason, and when I arrived, they had already started. The second division league, where I played for FK Radnik Hadzici, helped my game fitness, and it paid dividends when I joined the FK Sarajevo first team.” Jatta indicated concerning his early adaptation

Jatta declined to go on holidays as he stayed back in Bosnia preparing for the upcoming season. FK Sarajevo will face Romanian club CS Universitatea Craiova in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League. He has already played in a UEFA competition, making three appearances in the UEFA Youth League.
“It was a good feeling; I wasn’t expecting to play, but I ended up playing.” He recounted

” I believe that I will have more playing time than before. I believe that I will be at the peak of my performance once the league starts so that I can be putting in decent performances.”

Jatta made eight appearances in the Bosnian league; he was handed his debut in October and gained much playing time in the last seven games and ended up starting the league’s last two games. Since his move, the Gambian international has featured in 28 matches across all competitions and ended up being a Bosnian Cup champion, where he played the second leg of the semifinal and went on to play both legs of the final.

“I am very happy to be a Bosnian Cup champion. If you look back, 10 months ago I was in the Gambia playing league football. My first year I win a trophy. It’s a big trophy for me because I played in all games and played both legs of the final.”

He further lauded his coached for his development as he believes they saw something unique in him before promoting him to the senior side.

“I had good coaches that promoted me from the B team to the A team. My agent, Sheriff Jarju, and former academy coach, Saidou Tamba, are really helping me and always behind me. I had massive support in the beginning. I wasn’t playing in the beginning, but once I started playing, I caught the fans attention,” he concluded.
